Guatemala

Guatemala is one of the largest Central American markets for U.S. agricultural exports, with sales reaching a record $1.1 billion in fiscal year 2014.

The United States works with Guatemala both bilaterally and through the CAFTA-DR agreement to promote mutually beneficial trade and investment. Since CAFTA-DR went into effect there in 2006, U.S. exports to Guatemala have grown 90 percent. FAS provides support and technical assistance in Guatemala through a number of programs. These include Feed the Future, in cooperation with the U.S. Agency for International Development, as well as Food for Progress and the McGovern-Dole Food for Education Program.
