Guatemala

Guatemala is one of the largest Central American markets for U.S. agricultural exports, with sales averaging over $1 billion a year.

The United States works with Guatemala both bilaterally and through the CAFTA-DR agreement to promote mutually beneficial trade and investment. Since CAFTA-DR went into effect there in 2006, U.S. exports to Guatemala have grown 115 percent. FAS provides support and technical assistance in Guatemala through a number of programs, including Food for Progress and the McGovern-Dole Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program
