South Korea: Korea Seafood Market Update 2025

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)   |   KS2025-0046
The Republic of Korea’s (ROK) seafood imports totaled $5.52 billion in 2024, representing a 6.9 percent decrease from the previous year. Imports from the United States amounted to $182 million, down 10.1 percent year-over-year. The United States ranked as the ROK’s sixth-largest seafood supplier in 2024, holding a 3.3 percent market share. Korean consumers continue to associate U.S. fishery products with high quality. However, the elevated prices of preferred U.S. species and the slowdown in foodservice demand during the economic downturn caused overall imports to fall.
