Korea relies heavily on imports to fulfill its food and agricultural needs. Korea maintains a strong food processing industry that manufactures a wide variety of food and beverage products. As a result, the Korean food processing industry offers an outstanding opportunity for imported agricultural products for processing use from basic commodities such as wheat and soybeans to intermediate ingredients such as vegetable oils and fruit juice concentrates. The food processing industry generated $67.8 billion of sales in 2016, up 6.4 percent from the previous year.
