This is the first Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards (FAIRS) Country Report for Zimbabwe. The report includes an assessment of laws and import requirements for food and agricultural products.
South Africa has imposed provisional anti-dumping duties against bone-in chicken meat imports from Brazil and four European Union countries. With this announcement, South Africa is now imposing anti-dumping duties against all nine countries that have regularly exported bone-in chicken portions to this market.

Brazil: FAIRS Export Certificate Report Annual

This report identifies Brazil’s import requirements for foreign export certificates. An export certificate matrix and outline are included.
The Hong Kong government ordered the culling of 2000 hamsters in Hong Kong. The order was issued over fears of an animal-to-human transmission of the COVID-19 virus after a pet shop saleswoman tested positive for the Delta variant, and samples collected from hamsters at the pet shop were also positive.
The Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA) notified a draft decree to the WTO TBT Committee on January 6, 2022, as G/TBT/N/IDN/140 regarding materials that are exempted from mandatory halal certification.
In response to Hong Kong’s new quarantine requirements on locally based cargo crew, on December 30, 2021, Cathay Pacific airlines announced the suspension of all long-haul cargo and cargo-only passenger flights until January 6, 2022.

Poland: Poland Increases the Excise Tax on Alcohol

On January 1, 2022, Poland implemented an amendment to the excise duty act on alcohol. The amendment increases the excise tax on alcohol by 10 percent and proposes the Excise Map, a schedule of additional excise tax increases of five percent each year during 2023-2027.

Ukraine: Ukrainian Draft Order Rescinds EU Equivalency

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine published a draft order which, if passed, establishes a general framework for food safety system equivalency determination. As a part of this framework, Ukraine plans to cancel the Ukraine-EU equivalency status for products of animal origin, which was established in April 2014.
On January 11, 2022, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that India and the United States agreed to a framework that will implement market access for agricultural products from both countries. Among the successes, India agreed to finalize the mutually agreed export certificate to allow the importation of U.S. pork and pork products.
