Peru: Biofuels Annual

Peruvian ethanol production in 2021 is forecast at 215 million liters, approximately the same level compared to the previous year.
On September 9, the Colombian government released a new resolution to decrease its ethanol blend level to four percent (E4), effective September 11. Incremental increases are scheduled in the following 90 days, culminating with E10 by January 2022.

Wavering and uncertain polices and prices continue to limit fuel ethanol consumption in China. In late 2020 the State Council called for controlling the expansion of fuel ethanol processing capacity.
Japan’s Agency of Natural Resources and Energy will accept public comments on its proposed 6th Strategic Energy Plan between September 3 and October 4, 2021. All comments must be submitted in Japanese.

Argentina: Biofuels Annual

Argentine biofuel production in 2021 continues to suffer from the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic which has reduced fuel demand, a prolonged domestic economic recession, and recent changes in policy.
On March 31, 2021, the Government of Colombia issued a resolution to decrease the ethanol blend mandate from 10 percent (E10) to 4 percent (E4) starting on April 1, 2021, then gradually returning to E10 by September 2021.
On August 3, 2021, the European Union (EU) extended for an additional five years the anti-dumping and countervailing duties (AD/CVD) levied on imports of U.S. biodiesel since 2008.
The Philippine Department of Energy recently revised its biofuel accreditation guidelines through the issuance of Department Circular No. 2021-06-0014 in order to better ensure compliance with the country’s Biofuels Act.
