Mexico: Mexico's 2026 Agricultural Budget Prioritizes Social Assistance and Smallholder Farmers

Mexico’s 2026 budget for the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development is USD 4.1 billion, a 2 percent decrease in real terms compared to the previous year. Over 70 percent of the budget is allocated to social assistance programs that provide in-kind benefits to small-scale producers, including free fertilizers, cash support, and food assistance for low-income families.
