Jamaica: Unlocking Market Potential The Case to Expand US Agricultural Trade with Jamaica

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)   |   JM2025-0004
The United States remains Jamaica’s principal trading partner, maintaining an agricultural trade surplus in excess of $300 million in 2024. Jamaican agricultural exports, most of which are destined for the United States, generated $200 million for Jamaica in the same year. Despite U.S. agriculture’s strong presence in the local market, opportunities still exist to expand market share. Market access for U.S. pork, reduced duties on beef, poultry, and rice and the elimination of the discretionary use of import licensing would substantially bolster U.S. agricultural exports to Jamaica.
