India: Draft Amendment on Labeling and Display Regulations for Non-Retail Containers and Certain Other Food Products

On December 6, 2022, the Government of India’s Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) notified on its website draft notification F.No. STD/SP-08/A1.2022/N-01 (November 30, 2022). The proposed draft Food Safety and Standards (Labeling and Display) Regulations (2022) relate to labeling requirements for non-retail containers, minimally-processed products such as wheat, rice, cereals, pulses, fruits, vegetables and/or products that contain single ingredient; tolerance limits for certain food products; and warning statements related to Pan Masala. The FSSAI notification to date has not been notified to the World Trade Organization.
