Note to Data Users:
Use this data with caution. Currently, several large yellow corn shipments are being misclassified as yellow corn seed shipments. The yellow corn seed export data show growth of 1,174%, from 84,000 tons in the July-May period in 02/03 to 1.1 million tons in the current period. The data also show that the value of yellow corn seed shipments increased 159 percent from $106 million to $274 million. The misclassification of this data is creating large distortions in the export data. The U.S. Department of Census has been notified and the problem will most likely be corrected in 90-120 days.
