EU-15: Grain Area, Yield, and Production Tables

Excessive Rainfall in Germany

Second Year of Above-Average Precipitation

The past two seasons have been wetter than normal in Germany.  This year excessive precipitation negatively effected yields during August and September, when the crops were ready for harvest.  Germany produces most of Europe's milling-quality wheat, a significant quantity of malting barley, and the vast majority of rye.  However, the amount and quality of all three crops were reduced because of adverse weather at harvest.  View Maps of year-to-year changes that illustrate the trends in the rest of the European Union, or return to the main page for complete EU-15 statistics.
