Friday Global Crop Condition Brief


The following series of graphics highlight notable weather and crop developments in key production areas. Featured countries/regions or topics this week are United States, Hurricane Lili, China and Turkey.

Map of U.S. 7-day cumulative precipitation.
Tropical storm Isidore brought much rain to the Delta and southeastern United States, but it provided drought relief to the Ohio Valley, Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic.


Map of storm force winds from Hurricane Lili.
Hurricane Lili was downgraded to a tropical storm shortly after it made landfall.  Storm force winds damaged crops in Louisiana and the Delta.

Satellite imagery of Turkey's Anatolia cotton region.

Turkey's cotton production is at record levels due to increased area and better yields from irrigated cotton.  The Ataturk Dam provides the water for irrigation in the Anatolia region.
