Friday Global Crop Condition Brief


The following series of graphics highlight notable weather and crop developments in key production areas. Featured countries/regions this week are China, Western FSU, and the United States.

Global Crpo Watch - Aug. 24, 2001

China:  Favorable rain in western part of North China Plain; 2nd week of dryness in Shandong starting to cause stress; scattered showers in the NE, moisture is adequate; unusually dry in central China, good for cotton.

Western FSU:  dry and warm wether continues in Ukraine and most of Russia, favoring winter and spring grain harvesting; more rain needed for corn, sunflowers and sugar beets -- filling crops have been stressed by hot and dry weather.
