As of September 23, Ukrainian farmers had sown 3.2 million hectares of winter grains, compared to 5.1 million in the fall of 2004, 5.2 million in 2003, and 4.5 million in 2002. After September 23, farmers planted an additional 2.3 million hectares last year, 1.7 million in 2003, and 3.9 million in 2002.
