Soybean and Products Outlook for 1999/2000
U.S. soybean production in 1999/2000 is expected to reach a new record of 79.9 million tons. Despite the expected records in domestic use (45.02 million tons) and exports (25.3 million tons), ending stocks are expected to reach 16.06 million tons, the highest in history. The stock accumulation is expected to apply considerable downward pressure on prices, which will range between $150-166 per ton. Strong import demand for soybeans is expected in China, Southeast Asia, Mexico, and in the EU.
