Background:

Among the changes brought about with the adoption of the Unified Export Strategy (UES) was the elimination of cost codes, adoption of cost categories, and the elimination of the requirement to identify contributions from foreign third parties. MAP cost categories were limited to nine: trade promotion, consumer promotion, technical assistance, contractor fees, international travel, STRE, shows, compensation and allowances, and rent and supply. MAP regulations still require each program participant to submit End-of-Year (EOY) contribution reports identifying all contributions (cash and goods & services) at the activity level not later than 6 months after the end of the activity plan year.

Action:

Beginning with the 1998 program, MAP participants will report contributions using the aforementioned nine cost categories. In addition, participants are no longer required to identify the contributions from foreign third parties. Thus, the foreign third party column has also been eliminated. A sample format is attached to this notice.

This notice also serves as a reminder that the 1997 End-of-Year reports are due not later than 6 months after the end of the activity plan year. If you need further assistance, please contact the Marketing Operations Staff at (202) 720-4327.
