Over the past few years, the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) has issued FMD and MAP program notices which clarified or noted changes in the FMD Guidelines and the MAP Regulations. These program notices were issued sequentially and did not correspond to any particular year. This numbering scheme resulted in program notices with duplicate numbers and numbers that were inadvertently omitted.

Beginning with this document, FAS will utilize a new numbering system for all program notices. The number assigned to each program notice will contain a three-digit acronym of the relevant marketing program (MAP/FMD), a two-digit number representing the calendar year in which the notice was issued and a three-digit sequential number. For example, this notice is numbered MAP-98001 and FMD-98001 - both MAP and FMD programs for calendar year 1998 and the first notice for the year (001). In addition, MOS has renumbered previously issued program notices that are currently on our Website beginning with MAP-97001 through MAP-97028 (http:/www.fas.usda.gov/agexport/programs/mapprog.html ) 

This notice is effective immediately.
