POLICY: The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) sponsors or endorses U.S. pavilions at many international trade shows. FAS believes it is important to maintain a unified U.S. presence at these shows, with all exhibitors contributing fairly. Thus, at FAS sponsored or endorsed shows with a U.S. pavilion, CCC funds will only be used to reimburse eligible trade show expenses for Cooperators and participants or companies located within the U.S. pavilion. Such expenses must also adhere to the standard terms and conditions of the U. S. Pavilion organizer.

FAS recognizes that certain organizations desire to utilize their own distinctive design. This creativity and diversity is welcomed, and we encourage each organization to work with the show organizer to incorporate its design into the unified U.S. presence.

FAS also recognizes that organizations may occasionally have valid reasons to be located outside of the U.S. pavilion. On a case-by-case basis, FAS may consider granting a one-year exception to this policy for two reasons:

1) the trade show is segregated into product pavilions; or
2) a company=s distributor or importer is located outside the U.S. pavilion.

If an organization receives an exception during any program year, it remains eligible to request a similar exception in future years.

An organization may be reimbursed for its eligible trade show expenses if it receives written approval from the director of its FAS commodity division granting an exception to this policy. If such an exception is granted, the FAS commodity division will notify the FAS Trade Show Office.

NOTE:

This notice supersedes the earlier notice MAP 01004, dated July 17, 2001, and is effective immediately.
