Why Cancún?
Shortly after each Ministerial Conference, the
General Council seeks a location for the next conference. Member countries
formally invite the organization to meet in their country, and from these
invitations, a host country is selected. In November 2001, the government of
Mexico sent an invitation to host the next conference, and on May 13, 2002, the
General Council announced that Mexico would host the 2003 event.
