Processed Fruit/Juices

TREATMENT OF TARIFFS:

• U.S. tariffs on some processed fruits and juices imported from Mexico are being phased out over 10 years. Some of the major items include frozen strawberries, canned peaches, canned pears, and various fruit juices.
• For canned peaches, Mexico was granted an immediate reduction in the U.S. tariff, which is being phased out from that lower rate.
• On frozen strawberries and canned peaches, Mexico lowered its duty to match the U.S. and is phasing out from that rate.

The U.S. phase-out schedule is as follows:

TREATMENT OF QUANTITATIVE RESTRICTIONS:

• There are no quantitative restrictions affecting trade in these processed fruits and juices.

RULES OF ORIGIN:

• For citrus, all single-fruit juices--fresh, frozen, concentrated, reconstituted, and fortified--must be made from 100-percent NAFTA fresh citrus fruit.
