Sugar
Monthly Import and
Re-Export Data Report |
- Due to revisions on U.S. Customs data, the June 2011 forecast for U.S.
imports of sugar from Mexico was increased from 19,822 metric tons raw value
(MTRV) to 115,540 MTRV.
- On an August 1, 2011 announcement, which was later corrected on August
4, 2011, USDA increased the fiscal year (FY) 2011 specialty sugar
tariff-rate quota (TRQ) by 10,000 short tons raw value (STRV) - equivalent
to 9,072 MTRV. The increase was needed to accommodate a rapidly growing
processed organic foods sector. The new tranche opened on August 10, 2011.
The August 24, 2011 specialty sugar TRQ tranche of 18,229 STRV (16,537 MTRV)
will open as previously scheduled.
