the United States and 12 other countries
endorsed an International Statement on Low Level
Presence, part of a joint effort to address
trade and food security challenges arising from
disparities in various countries’ regulatory
systems governing biotech products.

USDA Secretary Ed Schafer and
Director of U.S. Foreign Assistance and USAID
Administrator Henrietta Fore, together with
Philippines Secretary of Agriculture Arthur Yap,
co-hosted a panel discussion on the benefits of
agricultural biotechnology. The discussion took
place on the margins of the High-Level
Conference on World Food Security in Rome.
Egypt Approves Biotech Corn Variety
