Tiny Market Replete With Retail Opportunities
This two-island republic relies heavily on
agricultural imports and has a dynamic and
growing retail food and beverage sector that
accounts for approximately 70 percent of the
country’s consumer-oriented imports. Trinidad
and Tobago’s main foreign supplier of food and
beverage products is the United States, and its
retail sector is marked by several important
emerging trends.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Food Service Sector
Promising
Trinidad and Tobago’s HRI (hotel, restaurant and
institutional) sector accounts for 30 percent of
the country’s consumer-oriented imports and is a
vibrant area of commerce. Although here again
the United States is the country’s largest
foreign supplier of food and beverage products,
fresh opportunities exist in its hotels,
restaurants, oil and gas operations, yachting
communities and airlines.
U.S. Apple Exports to U.K. Timed for December
Loving fresh apples is not exclusive to
Americans. In 2004, the people of the United
Kingdom spent $1.15 billion on apples — and most
of them came from outside the United Kingdom.
