Ministerial Conference on Science and Technology To Increase Agricultural Productivity Costa Rica May 10-11, 2004
Costa Rica’s Ministries of Agriculture and Science and Technology, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) co-hosted a Ministerial Conference on Science and Technology To Increase Agricultural Productivity on May 10-11, 2004 at IICA headquarters in Costa Rica. The event is a follow-up to the Ministerial Conference and Expo on Agricultural Science and Technology that was hosted by USDA Secretary Ann M. Veneman in California in June 2003. Some 150 people attended, including 20 Ministers of Agriculture and Science and Technology and representatives from private industry, academia, NGO’s, and regional and international organizations. Participating countries include the United States and the nine member countries of CORECA (Regional Council for Agricultural Cooperation in Central America, Mexico and the Dominican Republic): Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Belize, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, and Mexico. Attendance at the Ministerial Conference was by invitation only.
