Protecting the Food Supply
Agricultural Science and Technology Ministerials
Following the historic Ministerial Conference and Expo on Agricultural Science and Technology in 2003, USDA continues its commitment to strengthen global food security through promotion of agricultural science and technology. To further this commitment, USDA, together with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development, is building upon the outcomes and priorities of the Conference to initiate various activities and programs.

Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS)
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is the public health agency in the U.S. Department of Agriculture responsible for ensuring that the nation's commercial supply of meat, poultry, and egg products is safe, wholesome, and correctly labeled and packaged.

Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)
The Animal and Plant Health inspection Service (APHIS) is responsible for protecting and promoting U.S. agricultural health, administering the Animal Welfare Act, and carrying out wildlife damage management activities.
