With the launch of the Cochran Fellowship Community on the State Alumni Website, more interest has been garnered in creating a larger community. It is with great pleasure that our colleagues of the Borlaug Fellowship Program, the Faculty Exchange program, and the United States-China Scientific Cooperation Exchange Program will be joining us. Combined with the current Cochran site, the four exchanges will comprise a larger community called the USDA Exchanges Community.

USDA Cochran Fellows Train at Kansas State (10/28/10)
USDA Cochran Fellows from Nigeria, Anthony Itseumah, Abdulaziz Mohammed Kolo and John Adetola, met with Margo Caley at the USDA/ARS Center for Grain and Animal Health Research to learn about her work in the wheat variety development quality evaluation lab.

Alumni Event hosted by U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia(08/30/10)   Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Georgia, Malkhaz Akishbaia met with 50 fellows of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Cochran Fellowship Program (CFP) on August 30. The USDA Cochran Fellowship Program is an annual, 2 to 3 weeks training in the U.S. for senior and mid-level agriculturists, managers and administrators concerned with agricultural development, trade, agribusiness management and marketing from the public and private sectors.

The program's objectives are to assist Georgia to develop agricultural systems necessary to meet the food needs of its domestic populations and to strengthen and enhance trade linkages with other countries. Since the program's inception in Georgia in 1993, 130 Georgian citizens have traveled for training to the U.S. This year, over 60 applicants have applied for the 2010-2011 Cochran Fellowship Program.
