Indonesia is a rapidly growing and dynamic market for U.S. food and
agricultural products, offering a variety of export opportunities for
U.S. companies. U.S. food and agricultural exports to Indonesia are
forecasted to reach a record $2.7 billion for the 2011 fiscal year; and
Indonesian importers predict that annual sales of U.S. food products
will grow 10-20 percent annually over the next three years, thanks to
factors that include:
- Indonesia’s burgeoning middle class, which is shifting food
purchases from traditional markets to modern supermarkets;
- Consumers’ growing health consciousness, which is leading food
processors to seek out and experiment with new, healthy food
ingredients; and
- An expanding hotel industry catering to increasing numbers of
domestic tourists and business visitors.
