Vietnam Agricultural Trade Mission: Profile

Before kicking off USDA’s first-ever agricultural trade mission to Vietnam, Acting Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services Michael Scuse and the Foreign Agricultural Service’s Acting Administrator Heinen tour some of the historic sites and scenery in Hanoi on Sept. 24. Scuse is leading the trade delegation in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from Sept. 25 to 30. He is joined by 15 U.S. agribusinesses who are working to build new trade relationships with Vietnamese companies. Photo by Le Nguyen-BinhVietnam is one of the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia with a young and dynamic population of nearly 90 million. No other market for U.S. agricultural products has grown as fast as Vietnam in recent years, vaunting from the United States' 49th largest agricultural export market in 2006 to the 15th largest market in 2010. With this agribusiness trade mission, USDA wants to help U.S. exporters take advantage of the opportunities in this booming market.
