Grain:  World Markets and Trade

WHEAT: WORLD MARKETS AND TRADE 

PRICES:

Domestic: Wheat prices surged the first half of November, but have fallen slightly from the mid-month peak.    Technical market factors, rather than fundamentals, continue to influence prices.  Hard Red Winter (HRW) and Soft Red Winter (SRW) jumped the most this month by $26 (to $227/ton) and $24 (to $216/ton), respectively.  Hard Red Spring (HRS) increased $3 to $267/ton, with price quotes unavailable for 2 weeks in October. White Wheat gained $9 to $202/ton.   

TRADE CHANGES IN 2009/2010

 Selected Exporters: 

  • Australia is cut 500,000 tons to 15.0 million on reduced exportable supplies. 

 

  • Canada is raised 500,000 tons to 18.5 million on a higher crop.    

 

  • China is down 500,000 tons 1.0 million on lower expected exports. 

Selected Importers: 

·        Iran is cut 1.0 million to 5.0 million tons on the slow pace of imports.
