EU Commission Opens Investigation of Farmed Salmon Trade 
On March 5, the EU Commission announced the initiation of an investigation of farmed salmon trade.  The U.K. and Ireland are seeking safeguard measures on shipments of salmon from Norway, the world’s largest farmed salmon producer, and two other large producers, the Faroe Islands and Chile.  The U.K. and Ireland allege that the high volumes and low prices of imported salmon have negatively impacted their national farmed salmon industry.
