U.S. EXPORT SALES FOR WEEK ENDING 11/12/2009

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 640,500 pieces, were up 74 percent from the previous week and 32 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 635,200 pieces were primary for China (296,100 pieces), South Korea (163,300 pieces), Vietnam (50,100 pieces), Taiwan (37,800 pieces), and Thailand (24,400 pieces).  Exports of 589,400 pieces were up 40 percent from the previous week and 35 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 573,300 pieces were primarily to China (311,000 pieces), South Korea (93,500 pieces), Taiwan (55,000 pieces), Mexico (30,400 pieces), Thailand (21,200 pieces), and Vietnam (17,000 pieces). 

Net sales of 126,200 wet blues were down 61 percent from the previous week and 34 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary buyers were China (74,700 unsplit), the Dominican Republic (25,600 unsplit), Taiwan (20,700 unsplit and 2,100 grain splits), and Mexico (15,000 grain splits and 5,700 unsplit).  Exports of 161,700 hides were up 30 percent from the previous week and 46 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (48,600 unsplit and 1,800 grain splits), Italy (45,200 unsplit and 5,800 grain splits), Mexico (16,600 grain split and 2,100 unsplit), and Vietnam (14,900 unsplit).  Net sales of 8,000 unsplit for delivery in 2010 were for Italy.  Net sales reductions of splits totaling 107,400 pounds were for Taiwan (100,000 pounds) and Italy (7,400 pounds).  Exports of 495,800 pounds were down 14 percent from the previous week and 12 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were China (360,000 pounds), Italy (85,800 pounds), and Hong Kong (50,000 pounds).
