U.S. EXPORT SALES FOR WEEK ENDING 6/25/2009

Hides and Skins:  Net sales of 453,700 pieces were down 26 percent from the previous week and 27 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide sales of 451,800 pieces were primarily for China (281,700 pieces), South Korea (105,200 pieces), Mexico (25,300 pieces), Vietnam (20,800 pieces), and Japan (12,700 pieces). Exports of 505,700 pieces were down 28 percent from the previous week and 19 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Whole cattle hide exports of 501,600 pieces were primarily to China (253,100 pieces), South Korea (129,800 pieces), Thailand (27,800 pieces), Mexico (24,300 pieces), Hong Kong (17,400 pieces), and Taiwan (15,800 pieces). 

Net sales of 17,800 wet blues were down 75 percent from the previous week and 72 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Mexico (27,200 grain splits), China (5,700 grain splits), Taiwan (4,700 unsplit), and Vietnam (3,300 unsplit).  Decreases were reported for the Dominican Republic (12,000 unsplit) and China (10,800 unsplit).  Exports of 76,400 hides were down 27 percent from the previous week and 46 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were China (31,100 unsplit), Mexico (25,000 grain splits and 5,800 unsplit), Taiwan (4,300 unsplit), and Italy (4,200 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 1,001,300 pounds resulted as increases for China (514,000 pounds), South Korea (270,000 pounds), Vietnam (219,900 pounds), and Hong Kong (43,000 pounds), were partially offset by decreases for Taiwan (44,000 pounds) and Mexico (1,600 pounds).  Exports of 350,300 pounds were up 34 percent from the previous week and 10 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The destinations were Vietnam (219,900 pounds), South Korea (45,000 pounds), Hong Kong (43,000 pounds), and Mexico (42,400 pounds).
