| Milled Rice (U.S. #5 or Better) |
The rice shall be long, medium, or short grain milled rice grading U.S. No. 5 or better, except the rice shall be reasonably well milled and not contain more than 20 percent broken kernels.
The rice shall meet the specifications of the class and grade offered as defined in the "United States Standards for Milled Rice," in effect at the time the contract is made.
Unless otherwise specified, milled rice of the special grades "parboiled light" or "parboiled" which meet class and grade specifications shall be acceptable.
The product shall conform in every respect to the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, as amended, and regulations promulgated thereunder as applicable to such products.
FUMIGATION
Not more than 10 days prior to delivery, the milled rice shall be fumigated with methyl bromide or aluminum phosphide, in a quantity and manner which will effect a kill in all stages of weevil or other insect infestation.
PACKAGING
The rice shall be packaged in two pound polyethylene bags, four pound polyethylene bags, or 50 kilogram woven polypropylene bags.
