Through the Local and Regional Food Aid
Procurement Pilot Project, USDA is supporting 22 projects in 19 countries
that address both emergency response and development food assistance.
Over 1.6 million individuals are receiving food rations through direct
distribution, food vouchers, Food for Work activities and school feeding
programs. In
total, over 55,000 metric tons of food commodities will be procured locally
and regionally under this project. Below are some success stories
