USDA Updates Assessment of European Union Meat Situation
In response to the evolving situation in the EU livestock sector, USDA has revised its 2001 estimates for EU production, consumption, exports, and ending stocks for beef, pork, and poultry. Consumer preferences have altered somewhat from beef to poultry and pork, resulting in an increased consumption forecast for poultry, yet food safety concerns have offset growth in pork consumption.
