SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION ON IMPORTS
In an effort to provide additional information regarding international demand for dairy products, selected import data from the United Nations trade data base are included. Data from the United Nations have the advantage of being more current than that from the Food and Agriculture Organization but the disadvantage of not including some important countries such as Iran. As can be seen on the tables, only a limited number of countries have 1998 data. Only the major dairy product imports for countries not included in this circular were included in these tables.
As a note of caution, UN procedures for collecting and maintaining its database make it likely that some of UN’s data may differ significantly from data maintained by USDA.
