New Zealand

New Zealand is a parliamentary democracy of approximately 4 million people located in the South Pacific Ocean (southeast of Australia).  Over the past 20 years, the New Zealand government has transformed the country from an agrarian economy dependent on concessionary British market access into a more industrialized, free market economy that is competitive around the globe. Agriculture is the corner stone of the New Zealand economy accounting for approximately 5
percent of GDP, and nearly 50 percent of New Zealand’s land area is used for primary agricultural production.  New Zealand is the world's largest exporter of dairy products, sheep meat, venison and kiwifruit.  The United States and New Zealand communicate on trade issues under the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement.
