
Mr. Alexander presently serves as the Deputy
Administrator – Office of Country and Regional Affairs for the Foreign
Agricultural Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He has held
this post since July 2006. He is a career member of the Senior Foreign
Service with more than 30 years of government service. Previous
Washington assignments include Assistant Deputy Administrator –
International Operations; Director, AgExport Services Division; Deputy
Director for Marketing, Dairy, Livestock and Poultry Division; Marketing
Specialist, Dairy, Livestock and Poultry Division; Rice Analyst, Grain
and Feed Division; and, International Economist, Program Development
Division, Export Credits. With FAS he has served overseas assignments
as Agricultural Attaché in Manila, Philippines and Lagos, Nigeria;
Agricultural Trade Officer in Seoul, Korea; and, Agricultural Counselor
in Manila, Philippines and Jakarta, Indonesia.
Mr. Alexander has represented USDA on the
International Cooperative Administrative Support Services (ICASS)
Interagency Executive Board, the Board of the Foreign Service,
Department of State Recruitment and Retention and Committee and the
Board of Directors of the Central Commissary and Recreation Fund.
Prior to joining FAS Mr. Alexander was a USAID
contractor in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania and a Peace Corps Volunteer in
Baguio City, Davao City and Cebu City, Philippines. He served in the
U.S. Army, including 22 months of service in Vietnam. He grew up on a
corn, soybean and hog farm in central Missouri.
Mr. Alexander earned a B.S. and M.S. in
Agricultural Economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is
married to the former Evelyn Domingo Morales.
