square_bullet$33 million sales were projected by U.S. pavilion participants at SIAL ‘98. Europe's second largest food show was held in October 1998. SIAL ‘98 marks the largest U.S. presence to date with 140 exhibitors. Best selling U.S. products included cotton candy, thaw-n-serve cookies, honey barbecue pretzles, almonds, beef, corn dogs, salad dressings, carrot cake, and flavored rice. Award winning novelties shrimp/scampi-gourmet pizza, chocolate milk included aerosol cheese, chugs, and other products. The National Development Association, a first time exhibitor at Tribal SIAL projected $500,000 in 12 months sales.

square_bulletThe first Hemispheric trade show, the Americas Food & Beverage show was held in Miami in December 1998. 235 U.S. and 62 foreign companies exhibited. This first-time show resulted in $20 million plus sales and had an extensive educational and matchmaking component attended by 716 international executives.

square_bulletFAS is more pro-active in getting a larger share of the Canadian market. 11 U.S. companies introduced 33 new products at Canada's largest food and beverage show, held in Toronto in February 1999. The U.S. pavilion featured wine, flavored waters, natural and health foods, salted snacks, and consumer-ready convenience foods. Over 10,000 trade visitors attended the prestigious show.

square_bulletGulf Food ‘99 resulted in $3.7 million on-site sales. The 60 U.S. exhibitors in attendance test marketed 250 products at this international trade-only event, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in January 1999. The show had an estimated 9,200 visitors. U.S. companies made 550 serious contacts and projected a $20 million increase in sales during the next 12 months.

square_bulletFoodex ‘99, the largest regional Asian show attracted close to 87,000 visitors. Over 1,280 serious contacts were made and $87 million sales were projected by the 190 U.S. exhibitors for the next 12 months as a result of the show. A special feature of the show was the participation of five American Indian tribes with primarily fresh and specialty products, including smoked salmon, grapefruit and tangelos, pinto beans, cherries and fresh vegetables, and food seasoning. These products were very well received.
