During January and February 1999, Foreign Agricultural Service analysts traveled to Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay to assess the soybean and sunflower crops and to gauge trends in oilseed production. In Brazil, improvements in transportation have assisted oilseed area expansion into Center-West Brazil. In Paraguay, new technology has increased the national soybean yield dramatically. Argentina is expecting another good year for oilseed production.
