USDA Accepting Applications for Export Assistance Programs
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced that it is accepting applications for 2009 funding for five export market development programs administered by the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS): the Emerging Markets Program (EMP), the Foreign Market Development Cooperator Program (FMD), the Market Access Program (MAP), the Quality Samples Program (QSP), and the Technical Assistance for Specialty Crops (TASC) Program. All the programs are designed to help expand commercial export markets for U.S. agricultural commodities. (07/23/08)

USDA Seeking Board Members for Agricultural Exports Award Program

Schafer to Lead Bi-Partisan Congressional Delegation Visit to Colombia
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer will lead the delegation to Cartagena, Colombia, on July 18 to show the progress being made to advance democracy, security and human rights in Colombia, and to emphasize the importance of the U.S.–Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement to enhancing peace and prosperity with an important ally. FSIS Official Dr. Karen Hulebak Elected Chair of Codex Alimentarius Commission
U.S. Department Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer today announced that Dr. Karen Hulebak, a chief scientist for USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), has been elected to serve a two-year term as Chair of the prestigious Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), the international food standards organization.
