said that American farmers will export an estimated $57
billion worth of agricultural products in fiscal 2004, up $1.5

Secretary Ann M. Veneman today welcomed China’s Minister of
Agriculture Du Qinglin to the United States. The two held
wide-ranging discussions on trade issues and concluded their
talks with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
promoting continued bilateral cooperation in scientific
research and agricultural trade between the United States and
China.

Secretary Veneman Launches New Trade Adjustment Assistance
Program |

Agriculture
Secretary Ann M. Veneman today announced the U.S. Department
of Agriculture's new Trade Adjustment Assistance for Farmers
(TAA) program, which helps U.S. producers cope with lower
income due to increasing imports. USDA will start accepting
petitions from U.S. agricultural producers for assistance
